Lyrical, driving, harmonically and rhythmically surprising, Charlotte Cornfield's songs blow through the musical landscape with a restless acoustic energy.

Who is this quirky rock poet? Cornfield grew up in Edmonton and Toronto, and studied piano from age five to 12. But the lilting, percussive sound of the steel band at her downtown Toronto elementary school drew her down the hall, away from the black-and-white keyboard, and put mallets into her hands: birth of a drummer. She is currently studying jazz drums and percussion at Concordia University in Montreal, but is also a searing guitarist whose playing reflects that percussive, rhythmic influence.
"I write songs because I believe in the combined strength of words and music," says Cornfield. "I've always had things to say and things to play. It's the force that weaves them together that I love. I'll be singing forever." At 19, Charlotte is a wicked performer, her wit as potent as her music. She's wowed audiences from Victoria to Montreal, with melodies that get in your head and won't quit and lyrics that linger in the air and send you to the liner notes to savour every word.
"Equal parts Kathleen Edwards and Leslie Feist, Cornfield traverses indie rock and folk." -Bryan Borzykowski, Now Magazine
Charlotte's debut EP, It's Like That Here, has already received radio play on CBC across Canada, and is climbing the charts on campus radio all over the place.
