Ashiko World Music Festival
Multi-cultural music and dance festival, drum circles, kids programs, international cuisine and more. The 2014 festival takes place September 6th & 7th on the Leacock Museum grounds. Proceeds to the Sharing Place Food Bank.
Gathers teams of musicians and artists to work in remote indigenous communities in Canada’s far north. Their aim is to inspire youth through creative self-expression. They share information and offer volunteers the opportunity to be involved in their work on behalf of indigenous youth.

Chippewas of Rama First Nation Pow Wow
Annual spectacular Pow Wow hosted at Chippewas of Rama First Nation. A colourful and exciting event, it features international displays of traditional dancing, music and hand drumming. Artisan booths feature beadwork, baskets, apparel, footwear and more.

Lakehead University, Orillia
Situated in one of Central Ontario’s most beautiful areas, it offers a unique interdisciplinary studies option combining the arts and sciences, as well as programs in business, education and social work. ThunderCATS is Lakehead’s student club dedicated to volunteer work.

Works in partnership with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources to deliver education and awareness programming to monitor and track the spread of invading species in Ontario waters. They also provide a summer student for the Kids for Turtles program.
A City of Orillia advisory committee that supports the recreational trail system and Scout Valley as a multi-use facility for recreational users. They also educate the public about the benefits of the trail corridor.
Increases access to healthy, sustainable food for all. The gardens create a habitat for biodiversity and rare food plants. This is a grassroots network of community gardeners who plan, plant and tend the gardens and then eat, store and share the harvest.
Artifacts and interactive opportunities at the festival. Their education programs inspire creativity and the celebration of history.
Rich in a history of more than 100 years in Orillia, their mission is to generate environmentally-friendly energy and provide information about their conservation programs.
Resource centre and a drop-in centre for Orillia and area youth. Their many programs and activities include recreational entertainment, internet access, workshops dealing with issues such as self-esteem, employment and life skills, and teen pregnancy. Children and teens (ages 8 to 18) get an opportunity to play in an orchestra, teaching them about orchestral music, teamwork, respect, discipline, and pride in themselves and fellow members.
