Food Vendors

Our application process asks food vendors to reflect on and share information about their business practices during day-to-day business operations, and at the festival. This reflects our continued commitment to Mariposa’s values of inclusiveness, progressiveness, learning, social conscience, trust and diversity.
The 2012 application form provides an opportunity for you to share with us how your business and product embody these principles. We consider these values when judging and selecting food vendors. Of course, we appreciate that different vendors will demonstrate their social consciousness in varying ways and degrees. Please don’t let our emphasis on Mariposa’s values dissuade you from applying. This represents only part of the selection criteria. The other criteria include variety, nutritional value, affordability, international food offerings, space requirements and revenue potential.
On the Application Form, you are required to indicate that you have read and agree to the Food Vendor Guidelines. Please read these guidelines carefully, as they impart a good deal of information about Festival operations and contain some restrictions on operating your business over the festival weekend. By applying to be a Food Vendor at Mariposa Folk Festival, you are agreeing to be bound by these guidelines.
Applications are due no later than March 1, 2012. Applicants will be notified whether they have been selected by April 16, 2012. Email will be the primary method of communication.
If you have been selected to be a vendor, there will be further communication regarding the following requirements – vendor security deposit of $250 (due April 30), Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit permit (due May 14th), and proof of your certified compostable serving ware purchase (due May 14th). As well, a contract will be executed confirming the terms on which you have been selected to sell food at the Festival (due April 30). Please note that no changes will be permitted to the contract once executed, so it is critical that you ensure that your pricing and menu items on the application are a true representation of your intended service at the festival.
