Mariposa is renowned for its wide range of folk/roots artists, with 100+ performances of every kind on its 9 stages including music, dance and spoken word – but there’s lots more than that going on at Mariposa Folk Festival!
Roam Through the Artisans’ Village
We have an entire community of artisans nestled in the trees, displaying and selling
their beautiful and unique hand-crafted works including jewelry, musical instruments, soaps, paintings, apparel, pottery, glass, carving, weaving, candles and much more.
Hand’s On Experiences
Mariposa believes in exposing people to ideas and experiences that will enable them
to learn and grow. Participate in our popular interactive workshops, join a drum circle, make a craft, sing & play, write a song, dance, paint, hook a rug and more!
Ukulele-Building Workshops
Everything is provided including glue, simple tools and professional supervision. It’s easy, and you will have a quality instrument in about two hours. Make a trilele, soprano, alto, tenor, or baritone ukulele. Saturday and Sunday, 11:00-4:00. Space is limited, so come early.
Enjoy Our Pub Tent
Mariposa’s Pub Tent is a happening and lively place. Have a beer, cooler or glass of wine. Listen to the music on the Pub Tent stage or meet and chat with friends on the sidelines!
We Have Really Good Food
Mariposa takes great care to allow only the best food vendors at the Festival, and makes sure there is a
wide variety of choices for all tastes. From Jamaican jerk and Indian cuisine, to a variety of vegetarian choices and comfort food like burgers and pizza, we have lots of great food to keep you happy and nourished all weekend.
Stroll the Trail
The Gordon Lightfoot Trail (part of the Trans-Canada Trail) runs through forested and open areas of Tudhope Park.
Jamming Stage (New For 2013)
Bring your instruments and jam with with your friends and other festival goers on our new Jamming Stage. Free instrument lock-up is available during festival operating hours.
Folkplay for Kids
Our Folkplay area is a festival-within-a-festival for kids. There’s lot’s of quality activities including making garlands,
dancing, making sounds on instruments, face painting, bubble making, kite flying, and water fun, as well as a fun concerts on the Sunshine Stage. Kids 12 and under enter the festival for free when accompanied by a ticket-bearing adult.

Swim in Lake Couchiching
There are two large beaches just outside the gates of the festival site including a supervised beach and play area
(Moose Beach). Bring your bathing suit and a towel, and experience the clear, clean, soothing water of Lake Couchiching.
