Dan Mangan
This impressive talent is making his long overdue debut at Mariposa this year, and we are very pleased to welcome him to our stages. Still a young man, Dan Mangan has earned his chops in spades, touring across Canada, the United Kingdom, United States and Australia numerous times. A witty raconteur, he weaves unique lyrical phrases and delivers them with his signature graveled vocals and self-depreciating wit. In August of 2009, Dan Mangan released his sophomore album, Nice, Nice, Very Nice after three and a half years of touring his sleeper-hit debut record, Postcards and Daydreaming.

In August of 2009, Dan Mangan released his sophomore album, Nice, Nice, Very Nice after three and a half years of touring his sleeper-hit debut record, Postcards and Daydreaming.
There is an unpolished rootsiness to Nice, Nice, Very Nice and to all of Dan’s music, that also manages to touch on aspects of today’s indie-pop genre. There are a number of toe-tappers amid his trademark lamentations; and though it’s mellow at times, what Mangan has to offer isn’t overly precious or delicate. He simply writes songs that subtly outline the absurdity and wonderment in everything we do.
At 25 years of age, Mangan has already toured Canada, the UK, USA and Australia numerous times. He’s played coffee shops to six people and festival stages to a thousand. He has showcased at Canadian Music Week, South-By-South-West, North-By-North-East, The Great Escape (UK), MusExpo (LA), Big Sound (AUS), Western Canadian Music Awards, Transmission and COCA. Whether alone or with his Vancouver-based band, Dan simply continues to work all the time. Gaining respect amid his peers, he has shared stages with Patrick Watson, The Acorn, Elliott Brood, Said The Whale, Hey Rosetta!, Mother Mother and has collaborated with spoken word artists such as Ivan Coyote and internationally renowned show-stopper Shane Koyczan.
Mangan weaves unique lyrical phrases that are ultimately relatable and delivers them with his signature graveled vocals and self-depreciating wit. He brings new takes to old themes.
