Matt Andersen wowed the Mariposa audience with his first appearance in 2007, and his career has been growing by leaps and bounds ever since. He is a very real, rare, and raw talent with a phenomenally strong stage presence and incredible drive. His busy touring schedule has seen him playing festivals, halls and clubs across the United States and the United Kingdom, sharing the stage with the likes of David ‘Honeyboy’ Edwards, America, Randy Bachman, the late Bo Diddley, Little Feat and a host of others. This year, Matt won the 26th annual International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee, the first ever Canadian to win the top prize.

Matt Andersen has a larger than life showmanship, earning him a fervent and steadfast audience wherever he graces the stage. His sprawling blues, roots and rock musical hybrid, along with his sorrowing and soulful voice and astonishing guitar-playing, has sparked a phenomenal buzz that keeps spreading!

Along with a very busy touring schedule as a headliner at major festivals, clubs and theatres throughout North America and the UK, Matt has also shared the stage and toured with David ‘Honeyboy’ Edwards, America, Randy Bachman, the late Bo Diddley, Little Feat and a host of others.

Matt has just finished his fourth successful UK tour, garnering airplay on the BBC and features in various prominent blues and roots publications. Matt's hectic touring schedule includes over 200 live dates a year encompassing North America and the rest of the world. In 2009, Matt toured with CBC’s Vinyl Café, performing to capacity crowds.

This year (2010), Matt won the 26th edition of the International Blues Challenge in the birthplace of Rock N' Roll and home of the blues, Memphis, Tennessee. Competing against blues musicians nominated by blues societies from around the world including 39 states, 12 countries and 5 continents, Matt was the big winner. Matt is the first Canadian ever to win the International Blues Challenge.
