George Hewison
George Hewison's brand of music is firmly rooted in his compassion for the working man. He doesn't just write and sing about social justice, he lives it. George has been a social and political activist his entire adult life. He has performed across the country and abroad on radio and television; in coffee houses, concert halls, and clubs; at rallies, conventions, and on picket lines; and at numerous festivals. This year, Canada's labour minstrel is celebrating fifty years of combining music with labour and social activism with his Tough Times Tour.

George Hewison’s first public appearance was at a festival in Parksville, British Columbia in 1960, not long after his voice changed from soprano to bass.
He has since performed across the country and abroad on radio and television, in coffee houses, concerts (large and small), night clubs, theatres, rallies, conventions, rallies, picket lines, and festivals.
George has been writing and singing songs of Canada’s working people for five decades, inspiring tens of thousands of workers and social activists from all parts of the country with his rich baritone voice and edgy lyrics.
He is founder and lead singer of the Rank n File Band; has performed and recorded with “Joe Hill” composer, Earl Robinson. George's latest album is entitled Uncharted Waters.
