Greening Mariposa
The ‘greening’ of Mariposa Folk Festival continues. In the past two years we have made big reductions in Mariposa’s environmental footprint thanks to the dedicated efforts of our volunteers and audience. We appreciate your diligence and support.
This year we will improve upon on our past successes by conducting a full-fledged waste audit to further reduce the amount of waste that ends up landfilled, and by promoting the use of bicycle transportation to and from the festival.
As before, we will also be dispensing municipal water free of charge from our ‘Eausis Station’ and using only compostable cups, plates, and cutlery for food and beverage service. One big way you can help out is by bringing your own refillable cup to use throughout the weekend.
We are also very proud to announce the introduction of solar energy at Mariposa Folk Festival this year to raise awareness, and to take our own first step towards using more green energy. We will be showcasing the solar unit at the Classroom Stage near the main entrance. Please visit us and check it out.
If you have any suggestions of green initiatives that Mariposa should consider, please email the Green Team at greening@mariposafolk.com

The ‘greening’ of Mariposa would not be possible without the help and support of our volunteers and audience, and especially our Community Partner, the Twin Lakes Conservation Club.
